Vitebsk carpets

History

The company's journey began over 125 years ago. In 1898, the Russian-Belgian Society was founded in Ghent, Belgium. Two years later, it launched a large flax spinning mill in Vitebsk. Having survived the harsh years of war and evacuation, production took a new direction: in 1946, the decision was made to establish a carpet and plush factory there. The first meters of "Boucle" carpets rolled off the assembly line in 1947, using equipment received as reparations from Germany. Since then, the company has grown steadily, and in 2020, the Brest Carpets branch joined it, making it a significant player in the light industry.

Production

Modern "Vitebsk Carpets" is a high-tech complex where the carpet is considered an independent artistic element. The work begins in the design studio: specialists create digital sketches, which are then transformed into technical specifications for the most sophisticated European equipment (German and Belgian Van De Wiele and Schonherr machines). You will see how the entire production cycle is implemented at the factory: from the production of our own polypropylene yarn to the application of an innovative anti-slip coating (TPE).

Products

Today, the range includes hundreds of items: from soft, shaggy "Shaggi" rugs and practical mats to artificial grass and textured products. The use of wool, polyester, and chenille allows us to create carpets for any interior. This is where the ancient traditions of Belgian craftsmen meet modern technology.

Tours

During the tour, you will be introduced to the architecture of the historic production buildings and will visit one of the working weaving workshops to witness firsthand the large-scale process of turning yarns into finished fabrics. You'll visit the exhibition hall dedicated to the history of the Vitebsk Carpets factory, which features the most fascinating exhibits and facts about the development of carpet weaving since the factory's founding. At the end of your visit, you'll have the opportunity to purchase a unique souvenir to remind you of your visit to this legendary factory.
