History of the Roadside Chapel (Column-Pillar) of St. Raphael the Archangel in Skoki

The Raphael Column in Skoki is a historical and cultural treasure of the 18th century, erected in the 1770s out of brick at the initiative of Marceli Niemcewicz, father of the renowned writer and public figure Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz, in an oak grove near their old home. The column has been preserved almost in its original form, but the oak grove has not survived to this day.

The structure is an elegant Baroque column, originally topped by a sculpture of St. Raphael (lost in the 20th century). The column is located on a small hill, offering picturesque views of the surrounding fields and forests, the village of Skokki, and the city of Brest in the distance.

The column's location, three kilometers from Brest, near the village of Skoki and a 15-minute walk from the Pribuzhye railway station, makes it convenient for individual tourists, as well as for group tours visiting Brest and sites north of the city.
