The International Film Festival Listapad

The International Film Festival "Listapad" is the largest cultural and status event in the sphere of the Belarusian cinematography. The first festival "Listapad" was held in November 1994 and until 2002 was called "International Film Festival of the CIS and Baltic Countries". The organizers of the film forum are the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, the Minsk City Executive Committee, Belteleradiocompany, the National Film Studio "Belarusfilm", the Belarusian Union of Cinematographers. The festival is held under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Belarus.

Annually in November in Minsk, an authoritative international jury watches and evaluates more than a hundred of the best paintings from around the world. In the main competition program of the festival, new films created in the CIS countries, Central and South-East Asia, the Baltic countries, Eastern and Central Europe take part in the categories of gaming and documentary films. For young and novice directors there is a separate nomination-contest "Youth on the march", in which pictures from all over the world are competing, already received recognition by viewers and film critics. The films are evaluated by seven compositions of a professional international jury, which includes recognized actors, directors, journalists and film critics. The paintings compete for three main awards of the film festival - the Grand Prix "The Gold of the Listapad" ("For the Best Film"), awarded by the jury, "Silver of the Listapada" ("The film as a phenomenon of art"), awarded by the International Jury of the film press and "Bronze Listapada" Best Feature Film "), awarded by the audience. During the festival week, there are two hundred screenings of the cinema on five venues. Most sessions are accompanied by meetings with the creators of paintings, master classes, retrospectives, exhibitions.

In 2016, the Grand Prix of the International Film Festival "Listapad" in the category "For the Best Film" was awarded to Lily Lane (Lily's Trail) directed by Benedek "Bens" Fligauf; a special prize of the jury was the Romanian film "Maternity Certificate" directed by Christian Mundzhiu, and in the nomination "Youth on the march" the picture of the Estonian director "Days that were confusing" was awarded to the statuette.

In different years, guests and members of the international jury of the Listapad Film Festival were: Belarusian writer Algerd Bakharevich, Russian actors Veniamin and Alika Smekhov, French director Alain Flechecher, French actress Fanny Ardan, Serbian director Emir Kusturica and many others.

The program of the XXIV International Film Festival "Listapad", which will be held in November 2017, has not yet been made public.
