(visual inspection)Quite often the fate of locks and palaces are shrouded in legends and mystical stories. And in a case with the royal residence - it is inevitable. One of 2 locks in Grodno – the summer residence of the grand duke Lithuanian and the king Polish Augustus III has received glory of the damned place. And, nevertheless, exactly there passed general diets of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the agreement on her section in 1793 and here, in 1795 has been signed here, Augustus Ponyatovsky has appended the signature under the act of renunciation.

Grodno Choral synagogue

The monastery of bazilian in Grodno
(visual inspection)The monastery of bazilian in Grodno - a monument of the national significance, which is interesting for its history. Prechistenskaya Church was built here in the XII century, which excavations you can see today at the territory of the monastery. In the XVIII century the Church of Nativity was built here and combined Baroque and Classical styles. It was used for a museum of atheism and religion in Soviet times.
Today, the complex includes the Holy Nativity Orthodox Women's Monastery, residential buildings, a chapel and Sunday school. -
Francis Xavier Church in Grodno
According to most of judges of art, he has won a rank of the "richest" and beautiful church in all territory of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. And really, his ubraniye and shape, both in interiors, and in an exterior, impress that is peculiar to Baroque style. A set of distinguished details, sculptures, gilding – the embodiment of the ideas of Stefan Batory the unknown, unfortunately, architect. The Grodno church of Francis Csaverija – one of three temples of Belarus carrying an honourable title a small basilica. -
Catholic church of Our Lady of Angels and Monastery Franciscan
(visual inspection)The Church of Our Lady of the Angels and the Franciscan Monastery is a Baroque architectural monument and a Catholic monastic complex founded in 1635. The complex terrain determined the asymmetric composition of the church, which includes a bell tower and a monastic complex. The stone two-story monastery buildings and the three-nave church form a closed inner courtyard.
Among the 20 Franciscan churches that once existed in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Grodno church is one of the few that have been preserved and continue to function without interruption.
Today, the Church of Our Lady of the Angels and the Franciscan Monastery are included in the national list of historical and cultural heritage sites of the Republic of Belarus. -
Historical buildings st. Zamkovaya
Zamkavaya Street in Grodno is a true open-air architectural museum. Along its 360 meters, you’ll witness traces of multiple historical eras — from the 12th to the early 20th century. It is the only street in Belarus where two royal castles stand side by side. As you walk, you’ll pass palaces, arched bridges, gardens, and historic buildings that have preserved the spirit of centuries past. And at the end of the route — a panoramic view over the Neman River and the arch leading to the Old Castle. -
Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross and Monastery of Bernardine in Grodno
(visual inspection)On the high hill, in the downtown, the church of Finding of the Sacred Cross and a complex of the monastery of bernardines have taken the place of honor. It is unique cult ensemble and the most ancient Catholic shrine of Grodno. The baroque silhouette of a church and a high tower with a spike solemnly towers on the bank of Neman and is visible from all points of the historic center. As well as today, in days of old he drew attention to himself with noble and graceful shape – here, for example, Elisa Ozheshko got married, and in 1990 the Highest Roman Catholic seminary was placed. -
