Belarus is a country of four religions
17-April-2017Belarus is a tolerant state in which, for centuries, four confessions peacefully coexist: Orthodoxy, Catholicism, Judaism, Islam. This is due to the fact that throughout history a large number of different peoples lived on the territory of Belarus, each of whom professed his religion. In one way or another, the peoples interacted with one another: they traded, entered into mixed marriages, and so on. All this contributed to the development of religious tolerance, acceptance and understanding of the norms and customs of various religions.
As part of the excursion Belarus is a country of four religions You will visit one of the religious buildings of each religion: the Church of St. Simeon and St. Helena, the Cathedral Mosque, the Synagogue of the Minsk Jewish community, the St. Elizabethan Monastery and learn about the main differences of Catholicism from Orthodoxy, the history of the Uniate Church in Belarus, how in the Grand Duchy Lithuanian Jews appeared and why the sacred book of the Jews stands as a new car, and also about how Islam penetrated into Belarus and who continues to practice this religion today.
