The main purpose of the biopsy - to establish wether your organism has benign or malignant cancer. This procedure is also carried out during monitoring of treatment of cancer tumors.
Biopsy is a diagnostic procedure in which tiny particles of tissue (biopsy) are taken from a «suspicious» place, for example, a tumor, a polyp, a nonhealing sore, for a long time. Depending on where the biopsy comes from, they use different tools: there may be a thick needle, an endoscope (when they are examining the esophagus or stomach), a fiber (for bronchoscopy), etc. The conclusion in most studies is given within 10-14 days.
