News : Ancient Slavic holiday «Khrasbyny» in «Strochitsy»

Maternity rites and customs appeared in ancient times. They preserved the Belarusian ideas about the structure of the Universe, the cults of ancestors, fire, water, vegetation.
The christening is the central moment of that part of the maternity ritual complex, which symbolized the idea of ​​​​accepting a newborn into the family and society, affirming the “family-community” connection. Many ritual elements contained in the celebration of christenings reveal a genetic connection with ancient customs and rituals, with the social and economic life of the Belarusian village and, of course, with Christianity.
