Wooden Bernardine Monastery was founded in 1645, but already in the middle of the 18th century was destroyed by fire. In 1745 Askerko begin construction of a new stone monastery cathedral. The monastery complex built in the late Baroque two-tower in the form of a three-nave basilica. The monastery housed a primary school and a library. family tomb, where there is a repose of the genus Askerok has been arranged in the crypt of the cathedral.
After national liberation revolts of the XIX century - Bernardine monastery was closed in its case are the government offices of the Mozyr district and the hospital. In 1864 the church was returned to the Orthodox Church and consecrated in honor of St. Michael the Archangel.
