On a visit at Zyuzi
Zyuzya is a unique figure in Belarusian folklore. He is considered the great-great-grandfather of Santa Claus. Our ancestors honored Zyuzya as the patron of blizzards and frosts. Despite his funny name, he was by no means a nice character. Quite the opposite: important and formidable. In December he appeared to people in the form of a young, strong man with a long white beard. But by February he was turning into a gray-haired old man. However, Zyuzya could pretend to be a bald grandfather.
Over the centuries, he has become considerably better in every sense and joyfully welcomes guests in his own estate in the village of Ozerki, Postavy district, Vitebsk region.
