On 16 September, 2018 in Miory city will be held ecological holiday «Cranes and cranberries in Miory district», the tradition which originated back in 2012 on the territory of the Republican landscape reserve «Yelnya». The date of the holiday is associated with the beginning of the season of cranberry harvesting on one of the largest riding marshes in Belarus and all of Europe - Yelnya. It's here during the autumn migration annually arrives several thousand gray cranes and tens of thousands of geese of different species.
The main purpose of the ecological holiday is to preserve the unique Yelnya swamp and its surrounding areas. The holiday is a great opportunity to touch the untouched nature and watch birds during their meal in the swamp. Excursions are conducted by professional ornithologists.
At the event you can buy souvenirs made by local craftsmen, as well as try cranberry juice and a variety of sweets made of cranberries, as well as buy these berries about the stock for the winter.
