History
Yanka Kupala Park in Minsk was established in 1949, and from the beginning, its layout included space for a monument to the poet. However, the monument was installed only in 1972. The authors of the monument were sculptors Lev Gumilevsky, Anatol Anikeichik, Alexander Zaspitsky, and architects Leonid Levin and Yury Gradov.
Architecture
The monument features a full-height bronze figure of Yanka Kupala holding a cane, mounted on a massive granite pedestal. At the foot of the monument are a spring and a fern flower, symbolizing the poet’s immortality and the enduring legacy of his work.
