Monument to M. Chagall

Monument of Marc Chagall is set in 1992 year on the birthday of the artist to his native Vitebsk on street Pokrovskaya. Made of bronze by sculptor A. H. Gvozdikov.

Tired middle-aged artist sat in an armchair, deep in thought raising a hand to his forehead, Bella hovers over him - constant muse and love of Marc Chagall. From the square, where a monument to the Great Master, he starts his own street, here revived memories of childhood and adolescence.

Marc Chagall - a recognized master of the twentieth century, one of the the most famous representatives of the artistic avant-garde. He was born in Vitebsk in 1887 year, studied with Y. Pen at art school in St. Petersburg and Paris. He opened Vitebsk Art School and created a museum. In 1921 year Marc Chagall  left Vitebsk and later lived in Germany, the United States and France.
