Рouse-museum of Marc Chagall

The Marc Chagall House Museum is a unique place that must be included in excursions across Belarus. This museum, opened in 1997, is located in the house of the artist’s parents, where Marc Chagall spent his childhood and youth. A visit to this museum is a journey into the world that inspired the master’s first steps in art.

The main exhibit of the museum is the stone house itself, which preserves the atmosphere of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The exhibition features household items from that time, copies of archival photographs and documents, as well as reproductions of the artist’s works, telling the story of Marc Chagall’s life and his family. Some items on display belonged to the Chagall family.

The museum exhibition is divided into thematic rooms: “The Grocery Store”, “The Boys’ Room”, “The Living Room”, “The Red Room”, and “The Kitchen”. The artistic design of the exhibition was created by Yuri Chernyak, and the house’s interior was reconstructed based on archival documents and works by Marc Chagall created during his time in Vitebsk.
