Pokrovskaya Church in the village of Pokry, Brest District is a wooden church built in 1739 and remains active to this day. The church is a monument of architecture and is included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Belarus.

History

In 1739, a wooden Uniate church was built in the village of Pokry. After the Uniate church joined the Orthodox Church in 1840, a two-tiered tented bell tower was added to the building, where bells from the 17th century were placed. The church has undergone several repairs, including major renovations in 1925–1926. In 2020, the parish celebrated the 280th anniversary of the church.

Architecture

The church is a wooden structure in the traditional style with a two-tiered tented bell tower. The façades are decorated with carved elements reflecting folk architecture. The bell tower houses historical bells from the 17th century.
