Church Trinity in Volchinsk

History of Creation

The Holy Trinity Church in Volchin was built between 1729 and 1733 at the initiative of Kazimierz Sapieha, a well-known Belarusian-Lithuanian magnate. In the 18th century, it gained special popularity due to royal visits and the high status of the parish. After the partitions of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the church experienced difficult times: during the Soviet period, it was abandoned, and restoration work began only in the 21st century.
