Three Sisters Friendship Monument
The Friendship Monument is one of the main landmarks of Belarus and an important cultural heritage of the region. Erected in August 1975, this monument has become a must-visit point on tours exploring the country’s historical and cultural sites. It symbolizes the friendship and unity of three regions — Bryansk Oblast, Gomel Oblast, and Chernigov Oblast— reminding visitors of the power of interregional cooperation and shared cultural values. The creation of the monument was the result of an interregional competition for the best design, involving leading architects and artists. The first place was awarded to L.А. Stukačev from Gomel Oblast. The development of the final version of the monument was later carried out by Gomel engineer V.G. Maksimovich and Chernigov architect A.G. Mezenny. Bas-reliefs for the monument were created by Kyiv sculptors B.E. Klymushko and E.E. Gorban, and the construction was performed by the Bryansk Machine-Building Plant. Today, this monument is a popular attraction in Belarus and a regular stop on guided tours. During visits, tourists can learn about its history, discover the cultural ties between the regions, and feel the strength of friendship among peoples.
Every year, on the last Saturday of June, the International Festival of Slavic Peoples "Slavic Unity" is held at the monument, making it even more attractive to tourists and participants of guided tours.
