History of Construction

The Church of St. Michael was built in 1524 as a Catholic temple. However, between 1555 and 1643, it was used as a Calvinist gathering place, which influenced its interior decoration. Later, the sanctuary was reconsecrated as a Catholic church. Despite the change of denominations, the building retained its original appearance, remaining an important spiritual center of the region.

Architecture and Spiritual Life

The Gniezno Church is a single-nave temple with a three-walled apse and a central octagonal tower. The facades are adorned with elements of late Gothic architecture: hanging and ogee arches, rectangular niches, and slender buttresses. At the same time, Renaissance features are reflected in horizontal moldings, arches above the second-tier windows of the tower, and varied cornices. Today, the church remains an active place of worship, where regular services and religious events are held.
