The historic center of Brest is residential and administrative buildings of XIX-early XX centuries on the streets of Soviet, Soviet border guards, Karl Marx, Lenin, the Communist, Levaneuski, Chkalova and Mickiewicz.
Earlier in their place wooden buildings stood but after the terrible fires in 1895 and 1901, the city was built up with stone houses.
Unfortunately, not all of the buildings survived the war and postwar redevelopment of the city.
