memorial column in Vistychi
Vistyč Memorial Column is a historical monument located in the Brest district, near the Exaltation of the Cross Church. The stone column was originally crowned with a marble statue of Our Lady of Vistyč, but in the 1950s, the statue was thrown into the Lesnaya River. Today, the column is topped with a small canopy and remains an important cultural and historical site.
History of Creation
It is believed that the column had a sacred significance and served as a symbolic border between the estates of the noble Yagmin family and the Cistercian monastery. It indicated the spiritual connection between these places and was possibly used as a landmark for pilgrims and travelers. Despite the loss of the original statue, the column continues to preserve its historical significance.
