The complex is the former country estate
The Complex of the Former Manor in the Village of Perkovichi is one of the most fascinating historical and architectural landmarks of the Brest region, located in a picturesque area with unique landscape design. This site harmoniously combines elements of classicism, baroque, and neo-Renaissance, as well as preserved fragments of an old park. Today, excursions from Minsk and other cities are organized here, as the manor is of great interest to lovers of history, architecture, and cultural heritage.
History
The history of the Perkovichi estate begins in 1805, when it was founded by Zenon Wisłouch, the chamberlain of Brest. Construction and development of the estate were continued by his son Victor. During the 19th century, a rich collection of furniture, paintings, antiques, and books was assembled here. Of particular value was the library, which contained rare manuscripts and historical documents. The manor house served as a meeting place for the intelligentsia, and according to legend, King Stanisław August Poniatowski once had breakfast in the park. In the 20th century, the building was adapted for a boarding school, which changed the layout, but the memory of the estate's former splendor is carefully preserved. Today, the site is included in popular excursions across Belarus.
Architecture
The main building of the estate is a two-story stone house with massive walls up to one and a half meters thick, built in the forms of classicism. The main facade was adorned with a majestic four-column portico with a balcony, later replaced by a veranda. In the early 20th century, Antoni Wisłouch carried out a reconstruction, giving the facade neo-Renaissance features: pilasters, an attic, and a pediment with the inscription “Certa pro Institia A.D. 1906” were added. The interior included salons in Biedermeier, Empire, Louis XIV and Louis XVI styles, a library, art pieces, a Flemish tapestry, and unique household items. A particular point of pride was the imperial chandelier and oak furniture. Parquet floors, carved stoves, marble tabletops, and an antique collection emphasized the owners' status. The estate was surrounded by a park of up to 16 hectares, with a thoughtful layout, scenic canals, and an island with a gazebo.
Excursions
Today, the Perkovichi estate is part of popular excursions across Belarus, available for both individual and group visits. It is a great opportunity to book an excursion and embark on an atmospheric journey to the places where Belarusian nobility once lived. An excursion from Minsk allows you to immerse yourself in the past in just one day, learn more about the Wisłouch family, explore the preserved architectural elements, stroll through the historic park, and touch the heritage. Tourist routes include stories about the fate of the estate in the 20th century, a guided tour of the territory, and visits to park areas with rare trees and natural landmarks.
