History

According to local legends, the Stone Bed dates back to the glacial period, but it became known in the 18th century. It is believed that the boulder was placed in the park of the Molochevsky noble estate and served as a spot for both rest and… punishment. Some say that Empress Catherine II rested on this very stone on her way to Warsaw, having stopped in the area. A darker version claims the stone was used by landlords for public punishments of serfs. While no source confirms Catherine's visit to Peski, the memory of the «Katerina Stone» lives on among locals.
