Cathedral of the Assumption in Vitebsk
To book a tourBasilian monastery in Vitebsk was founded in 1682 on the site of the wooden Church of the Assumption. In the 1743-1775 year at the expense of Myron Galuza Italian architect Joseph Fontana begins to build a new stone church and a 3-storey monastery housing.
In 1779 Assumption Cathedral and the monastery were transferred Orthodox Church. In 1936 the church was blown up in 1998, work on his recovery began.
