Monument to heroes of War of 1812 in Vitebsk
To book a tourMonument to heroes of Patriotic war of 1812 it is established in 1912 in memory of the Russian soldiers who have shown courage and firmness in fights near Vitebsk on July 13 — 15 and on October 26, 1812.
It is located in the square of heroes of Patriotic war of 1812 at the end of Sovetskaya Street. I. Fomin's project, directed works the Vitebsk city architect T. V. Kibardin.
The monument represents the granite obelisk 26 m high established on a rectangular pedestal and topped with a bronze two-headed eagle on a sphere. On a pedestal the plate with an inscription is established: "Immortal valor of heroes of Patriotic war, participants of battles near Vitebsk 13, 14, on July 15 and on October 26, 1812" .
On corners of a plate of the basis of a monument four pig-iron guns cast on samples of mortars of times of Peter I are installed.
