Jesuit college building - a monument of baroque architecture of the XVIII century. College was opened in 1580 by decree of the Polish king Stefan Batory. Famous preacher Peter Skarga was the first rector of Polotsk Jesuit college. College was one of the richest in Belarus. In the years 1773-1780 in its territory, were built of stone barns, stables, coach, bakery, smokehouse, brewery, shops and a cloth factory. In Collegium also contained a pharmacy, hospice, and musical sac. He was preparing teachers for a number of disciplines to other Jesuit schools.

By decree of Emperor Alexander I Polotsk Jesuit collegium was transformed into the academy with the human talent of the university. Polotsk Jesuit Academy schools were subordinated to the Russian Empire.  Grand opening of Polotsk Jesuit Academy was in June 10, 1812 , which was attended by Governor-General of Belarus Alexander Wurttemberg.

In 1820 Polotsk Academy was closed, the building housed the highest public-relations school, during the Soviet time here was gostpital. Since 2005 - faculty of History and Philology and Faculty of Information Technology of the Polotsk State University.
