Memorial complex in Lesnaya
To book a tourMemorial chapel and a monument in village Lesnaya - are established in honor of the 200 anniversary of a victory of Russian armies over the Swedish case of general A.Levengaut in fight of 1708 under Lesnaya.
Under Lesnaya on September, 28th, 1708 during Northern war fight between Russian armies at the head has taken place with Peter I and the 16-thousand Swedish case of general Levengaupt. Swedes have lost all 9 thousand the soldiers, all artillery, a transport. Losses of Russian have made 1 thousand people. Deprivation of the Swedish army of provisions and reinforcements has deprived of its possibility to realize campaign plans on Moscow, also has lifted fighting spirit of Russian army, has forced to believe in itself. This operation has been named by Peter I ”Mother of the Poltav fight”.
On a battle place in two hundred years in 1908 was will erect the memorial complex: the chapel of apostle Peter constructed under the project of architect A.Gagen in Modernist style and a monument in honor of a victory of Russian armies (Russian eagle towers It is proud over the Swedish banner, sculptor A.Ober) and a marble obelisk on a communal grave.
