Apartment house in Hotimsk

This unique residential building was constructed in Khotimsk at the beginning of the 20th century by craftsman Gutner, who became famous for his rope-making skills. The building is made of stone and serves as an example of urban architecture of that time. Today, it has not only preserved its historical appearance but also remains an important part of Belarus' cultural heritage.

History

After the 1917 revolution, all stone buildings, including this house, were nationalized. Unfortunately, records of its use during the first decades of Soviet rule have not been preserved. Only by the 1950s did it become known that the building housed one of the country's key financial institutions.

From the 1950s to 1987, the building was home to the USSR State Bank. During this period, Gutner's house became an important economic center of the city, where financial activities reflected the country's post-war development.

In 1987, the building was transferred to the Pioneer House, and later, in 1993, it was renamed the "Sail of Hope" Center for Children's and Youth Creativity. Various clubs, creative activities, and educational programs were held here for the city's young residents.

Since 2007, the building has served as a center of folk creativity, housing the district House of Crafts. Today, traditional Belarusian crafts are being revived here, with master classes, exhibitions, and cultural events attracting tourists and history enthusiasts.

Architectural Landmark of Belarus

In 2007, the building was granted the status of a historical and cultural heritage site of the Republic of Belarus. It was officially included in the state list of architectural monuments (Resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 578 of 14.05.2007). This status confirms its unique historical and cultural significance, making it an interesting site for tourists and architecture enthusiasts.
