History
The origins of Knyaginin Holy Trinity Church trace back to the 18th century. According to some sources, the first wooden church on this site was built in 1772 as a Uniate church, making it one of the oldest in Belarus. However, the current building was constructed in the second half of the 19th century on the foundation of the earlier church. Since its establishment, the church has remained in operation, continuing its religious function even during Soviet times. A recent renovation carried out in 2010–2012 restored the church’s former beauty and emphasized its historical value.
Architecture
The church is a vivid example of vernacular wooden architecture with elements of traditional Orthodox style. Its modest yet expressive appearance is dominated by simple forms and minimal decorative details. The facades are adorned with carved window frames, and the tented bell tower is topped with an elegant onion dome — one of the few exterior decorative features. The church grounds are enclosed by a solid stone fence, and the central entrance is marked by a neatly designed gate. Restored and well-maintained, the church retains the atmosphere of an old Belarusian sanctuary, making it a valuable site for architectural and cultural excursions across Belarus.
