After the October Revolution of 1917, the church, like many others, faced persecution. In the 1930s, it was closed, and its building was used for economic purposes. During World War II, the church was partially damaged, but after the war, it was restored.

The return of the church to the faithful took place at the end of the 20th century when an active wave of revival of Orthodox shrines began in Belarus. The church was restored, re-consecrated, and today serves as an active place of worship and a spiritual center of Zhlobin.

Architecture and Interior of Holy Trinity Church

Zhlobin’s Holy Trinity Church is a striking example of Orthodox architecture, combining elements of Russian ecclesiastical design and Neo-Byzantine style. According to one local legend, during the Soviet-era persecutions of churches, this temple was in danger of being demolished. It is said that the authorities planned to destroy it, as happened with many other shrines, but the workers assigned to the task encountered mysterious obstacles. According to the legend, the equipment brought in for demolition unexpectedly broke down, and the workers felt inexplicable anxiety and fear. Some even claimed to have seen shadows of monks praying inside the church at night. In the end, the church was never demolished, and later it was returned to the faithful.

It is also believed that Holy Trinity Church houses an icon with miraculous properties. According to legend, a woman who had suffered from an incurable disease for a long time once came to the icon. She prayed fervently before it, and soon her condition dramatically improved. News of this spread among the parishioners, and since then, many people have come to this icon to pray for health and help in difficult life situations.

Old residents of Zhlobin tell of a mysterious monk who is said to appear near the church in the most challenging times. His silhouette has been seen in different years—during wars, disasters, and even before significant historical events. According to these stories, he emerges from the shadows as if protecting the church and those who pray inside it. No one knows who this monk is, but believers consider him to be the spirit of a priest who once served here and remained to guard the church even after his death.
