History of the Village of Nikolskoe

The village of Nikolskoe (now Mikolaevshchina) is located in a picturesque area of the Minsk district, on the banks of the Neman River. Once, a Roman Catholic church stood here, which was converted into an Orthodox church in 1867.

Nikolaevskaya Church – A Symbol of the Past

Rebuilt in 1876 with state funds, Nikolaevskaya Church was distinguished by its majestic seven domes. Its two-tiered iconostasis was painted in blue tones with gilded elements, giving the church a special splendor. The belfry housed three bells weighing 8, 7, and 5 poods, creating a unique atmosphere during each service.

Modern History of the Church

In the early 1960s, the church building was dismantled by local authorities. However, in the late 1990s, a decision was made to revive the church in the village of Mikolaevshchina. A local village shop building was converted into a church, which was consecrated in 1999 by Metropolitan Filaret of Minsk and Slutsk. The new church was named in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and became an important spiritual center of the region.
