History of the Lyubcha Church of St. Elijah


The first wooden Church of St. Elijah in Lyubcha existed several centuries ago, but the exact date of its construction is unknown. Historical sources mention that the church suffered from fires multiple times. In 1798, it burned down completely but was soon rebuilt. At the beginning of the 20th century, before World War I, a decision was made to erect a new church, this time made of white brick. In 1914, the church was consecrated and has been continuously operating ever since, surviving all the historical upheavals of the 20th century.
