Football arena

Type: Sports-entertaining objects Date of Foundation: 2002 year Status: Regional value Republic of Belarus, Minsk, Pobediteley avenue, 22

Football Manege in Minsk is a modern indoor sports complex of international level, designed for year-round training sessions and football matches. It became one of the first large-scale projects in the country aimed at creating a comfortable all-weather infrastructure for football development. The manege stands out for its versatility: it hosts training sessions for professional teams, competitions of children's and youth sports schools, international tournaments, friendly matches, as well as mass sports events. Special emphasis is placed on supporting children's and youth sports — more than 50% of the field's usage time is allocated for training young football players.

Thanks to its scale, technical equipment, and architectural expressiveness, the Football Manege has become one of the iconic sports landmarks of the Belarusian capital and is included among the recommended sites for tours around Belarus.

History of Creation

The idea of building the Football Manege emerged in the early 2000s in response to the need for a covered arena for year-round training of football teams. The design was developed according to international standards, and construction was completed in the shortest possible time.

The official grand opening of the manege took place in December 2002.

At the final stage of construction, the facility was visited by FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter during his working visit. His attention to the project symbolized recognition of Belarus’s efforts in developing sports infrastructure. After its opening, the manege immediately became an active venue for training national teams of different ages, hosting tournaments, and organizing football events at both national and international levels.

Today, the manege is an integral part of the country's football life, often becoming a destination for tours from Minsk and thematic tours of sports facilities.

Architecture of the Building

The Football Manege was designed by architect M.L. Gaukhfeld and represents an outstanding example of modern sports architecture.

The key feature of the architecture lies in the use of the concept of "biological forms" — an approach that avoids straight lines in favor of smooth, organic outlines inspired by nature.

The exterior of the building lacks sharp angles and rectangular shapes: it resembles a giant dune or a sea wave, making its massive size appear visually light and harmonious.

Stylistically, the manege blends seamlessly into the surrounding urban landscape without disrupting its natural composition.

The facade is finished in bright shades of blue and light blue, harmonizing beautifully with different natural settings: in summer, the facade resonates with the greenery of trees and lawns, and in winter — with the whiteness of snow and the gray-blue sky.

Structurally, the building is equipped with modern engineering systems for ventilation, heating, lighting, and safety. The football field has a professional surface that meets the requirements of international sports organizations.

The manege is designed for both training sessions and full-scale official matches.

Excursions with a Tour of the Manege

The Football Manege is included in the official excursion routes around Minsk, especially during the organization of sports tours. Visitors have the opportunity to admire the unique architecture of the complex, learn about its construction, and discover its role in the development of Belarusian football. During excursions, guides talk about the focus on working with children's and youth sports schools, about the competitions held here, the training processes, and the preparation of the country's football reserves.

For those wishing to visit the Football Manege, it is possible to book an excursion individually or as part of a group, including as part of tours from Minsk.

This is a great opportunity to see one of the most modern sports facilities in Belarus and to feel the atmosphere where future champions are born.
