The Museum of Modern Fine Arts is one of the youngest to date museum structures in Belarus. The activity of the museum began June 13, 1997 under the leadership of Sharangovich Vasily Petrovich. People's Artist of Belarus, Professor V. Sharangovich headed the department of graphics, later became rector of the Belarusian State Theatre and Art Institute, and today he is the rector of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts. Opening of the exhibition halls on 18 May 1998, and the first exhibition called "New Collection" marked the beginning of active exhibition activities of the Museum of Modern Arts.
