Wooden architecture

Wooden architecture — type of architecture, a distinctive feature of which is the active use of wood. This type of architecture has developed in areas with extensive forest cover, where the tree was the most accessible and common building material. The architecture of a dwelling house, constantly updated, gave rise, in essence, to all construction and compositional techniques of wooden architecture. On the territory of Belarus there are many unique ancient temples of the XVI-XVII centuries. There are 112 wooden churches in the Brest region alone, 88 of which are unique.
