News : Ritual event «Shchadrets» in Strochitsy

Strochitsy Museum of Folk Architecture January 9, 2021 invites everyone to visit the ritual event «Shchadrets», where you can tell fortunes, learn to dance Belarusian dances and take part in various Christmas contests.

The old custom to celebrate the evening on the eve of the New Year was called «Shchodryk», «Shchadrets» according to the old style. On this day, the second (rich, generous) kutya, pancakes with gravy and fried sausage, porridge, soup and other food were cooked, where the dishes were given a magical and ritual meaning.

Also «Shchadrets» is an evening of fortune-telling. Both adults and children wondered, and especially unmarried girls who wanted to know what awaited them next year. This year you have a unique opportunity to plunge into this unusual atmosphere.

At the event you will find:
