At night from the 31st of December, 2009 till the 1st of January, 2010 citizens of Belarus see the New year in. This holiday, celebrated by many people all over the world according to Gregorian calendar, represents the moment of transition from the last day of the year to the first day of the coming year. The integral attributes of the New Year celebration in Belarus are the New Year's tree , decorated with garlands, tinsel and New Year's toys, and also crackers, bengal fires. Popular New Year's Characters - Dzed Moroz (Belarusian Santa Claus) and his grand daughter Snegourochka - come to children and adults, congratulate them and give presents.

A unique open-air exhibition, «Le Corbusier: Minsk Echo» has opened in the very heart of historic Minsk. It is timed to coincide with the XVI National Architecture Festival and dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Belarusian Union of Architects. The project is being implemented with the support of the Embassy of France and the Embassy of Switzerland in the Republic of Belarus, as well as with the participation of the Minsk History Museum.
The exhibition introduces viewers to the work of one of the most influential architects of the 20th century, Charles-Edouard Jeanneret-Gris, better known to the world as Le Corbusier. His ideas radically changed the appearance of cities around the world, from France and Switzerland to India and the USSR. Le Corbusier's innovative concept of five architectural principles formed the foundation of modernist architecture and influenced the appearance of post-war Minsk: from the microdistricts of the 1960s–1980s to the water-green diameter of the capital.
The exhibition presents the master's completed projects in Switzerland and France — the countries with which the origins and flourishing of his work are associated. This traveling exhibition helps to look at the Minsk urban environment in a new way — through the prism of ideas that shaped the architectural thinking of the 20th century.
«Le Corbusier: Minsk Echo» is not just an exhibition, but an invitation to comprehend the city in which we live and the architectural reality that shapes us every day.
