The festival of medieval culture “Sword of Brachyslav” in Braslav

The festival of medieval culture "Sword of Brachyslav" will be organized in the town of Braslav from the 29th till the 30th of May,2010 .

The festival is timed to the 945th anniversary of Braslav, which is the capital of the Belarusian Lake District. This festival will become one of the events, included into the historical project "On the way to Gryundvald".

"Sword of Brachyslav" is the first festival of medieval culture in Belarus, which will combine two directions of reconstruction: military direction and handicrafts.

Specialists and fans of experimental archeology will demonstate the way, the ancient people of Belarus did the weaving, spinning, shoes sewing, fishing nets woving. They will also describe the way ancient people ate, their typical tableware, ingredients of the food.
Archaeologists will share the secret of ceramics conservation and tell the guests about the principles of the excavation.
The festival will gather the knights, coming into battles on a specially arranged area.
One will be able to get acquainted with the way of life of the knights.
And, of course, there will be lots of music and dances at Braslav festival.
