The events of the city Lyaskovichi / Pripyat National Park

  • Pripyatsky National Park invites everyone to the «Honey Traditions of Polesia» festival, which will take place October 18-19, 2025. This is a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the ancient traditions of Polesia and witness the age-old ritual of harvesting wild-hive honey, the true «Polesian gold». In autumn, the forest fills with the aromas of fading herbs, autumn leaves, and fresh honey, creating a truly magical atmosphere.

    Beekeeping (Bortnictvo) is not just apiculture but an ancient craft passed down in Polesia from generation to generation for over a thousand years. It has become part of UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage and remains a vital part of local beekeepers' lives.

    What awaits you at the festival:

    • Immersion in the traditions of Polesian beekeeping;
    • A visit to a hereditary beekeeper (bortnik) who will share ancient honey-harvesting methods;
    • A tour of the workshop where you’ll see how traditional log hives (borti) are crafted;
    • A forest walk to remote wooden hives and observation of the traditional wild-hive honey harvesting process;
    • A visit to an abandoned village with post-apocalyptic landscapes;
    • A trip to a classic apiary with traditional beehives;
    • Tasting of aromatic Polesian honey in a honey workshop paired with fragrant herbal tea;
    • An opportunity to purchase unique forest honey directly from beekeepers.

    This festival is a rare chance to witness traditional honey harvesting, breathe in the scents of the autumn forest, fading herbs, and the rich aroma of fresh honey. Dive into history, discover the philosophy of bortniks’ lives, and taste this unique natural gift!
    Join us on a journey into the world of ancient traditions!
