Festive tour «Veles Night» to the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve
During the weekend October 28-29, 2023 in Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve will host the mythical holiday tour «Veles Night». This holiday in Slavic traditions is compared with the Western holiday Halloween, on this night all its «spirits» appear from the forest.
Veles Night is a night of great power, as well as a family holiday. It was believed that it was at this time that all living nature fell into a dream, the earth went to rest, in which it would remain until the first spring thaw woke it up.
The Slavs believed that in addition to our world, there is also a world of spirits, evil and good. And on the night of the transition of autumn to winter, the boundaries between the worlds become thinner and the spirits can walk in the forest. The sorcerer god Veles was traditionally considered the guardian of the borders, after whom the holiday is named.
