Machanka

Machanka (mochanka, vereshchaka, verashchaka) – a Belarusian national dish, meat sauce, which is prepared on the basis of roasted fresh pork ribs, which are then stewed in a frying pan or in a clay pot with gravy from flour and butter, and sometimes milk is added. Machanka is always served with pancakes.

Vereshchaka as one of the variants of the machanka is known in the folk cuisine of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania from the middle of the 18th century. The author of the recipe is the royal kitchen-master Vereshchaka. However, this dish became very popular in the 19th century due to the coincidence of the name with the surname of Marylya Vereshchaka – the beloved of Adam Mickiewicz.

You can taste the dishes of the national Belarusian cuisine during one of the excursions organized by «Automated tourism technologies» travel company, joining a group excursion or ordering an individual excursion for your family, friends, colleagues.
