The fifth festival of medieval culture «Golshanskiy Castle 2014»

The festival of medieval culture «Golshanskiy Castle 2014» will be held for the fifth time in Golshany on May 24th, 2014 and will gather fans of authentic music, handicrafts, knightly tournaments and fire show.

The knight camp will be deployed under the walls of the castle of magnate family Sapieha in Golshany. Guests of the festival will be able to see the spectacular and exciting «jousting fun real men» - hiking and equestrian jousting tournaments, buhurts, archers tournaments. Among the participants there are equestrian history club «Golden Spur» (Minsk region), Slavic folk club arts «Aridan» (Grodno), Minsk shooting archery club «BOW'S CLUB». The extremetheater «Berserk» will organize a tug of war on the «tricky» stumps, throwing knives and axes, the game «Serso» and cockroach races! For those wishing to take part themselves in medieval entertainments there will be various workshops: fencing, walking on stilts vintage, manufacturing forged products, medieval dances and other.

The medieval holiday atmosphere will be complemented by performances by music groups, who will present the live sound of ancient melodies, performed on national instruments - folk-electronic band «PAWA», folklore ensembles «Guda» and «Balamuty». Concert will be headlined by the famous group «Stary Olsa».

The peculiarity of the festival is the presentation of an abbreviated version of the Belarusian musical «Sophia Golshanskaya» by famous Belarusian composer Vladimir Kandrusievich, which premiered in autumn 2013 on the stage of the Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater.

In addition to the festival activities the guests of the holiday will have a wonderful opportunity to experience the rich historical past of Golshany, its mysteries and ghosts.
