History of the development - Kamenets

It was based by the Volynsk prince Vladimir Vasilkovich in 1276. The settlement strengthened by a ditch and shaft with a 30-metre tower has been put there. In 1289 Kamenets has been destroyed prince Jury Lvovich. Since 1366 was a part of Grand duchy Lithuanian, belonged to princes Jagajlo, Kejstut, Vitovt, Janush Mazovetsky. In 1376 the city has been burnt by crusaders. Since 1413 - the centre of district. In 1503 the city has acquired the Magdebourg right and own arms. In XVII-XVIII centuries here the complex with the palace and park has been constructed, the textile manufactory of Radzivilly operated. Since 1795 till 1940 the city was called Kamenets-Lithuanian. Since 1921 Kamenets was a part of Poland, since 1939 - of BSSR.
