Legend "Grazyna"

A few kilometers from Novogrudok there is a small lake with which a local legend is associated.

The prince of Novogrudok Litavor inclined towards a shameful alliance with the enemies of Novogrudok is the Teutonic knights. He did not heed either the admonitions of his friend Rymvid, nor the persuasion of his wife, Princess Grazhina. Then, in secret from him, Grazyna, wearing a helmet and armor, led an army to the lake to meet the Teutons. Prince Litavor rushed to the battle to help an unknown knight, and the Novogrudians won. Grazhina was mortally wounded and died. And Litavor, having opened the visitor of the fearless knight, was amazed and heartbroken when he recognized his beloved spouse. In honor of the feat Grazhina and called the lake «Litovka».
