The Castle Hill in Mstsislaw is an ancient settlement that serves as the historical center of the town. It emerged in the 12th century and functioned as a powerful fortress protecting the principality from enemies. Today, the site preserves earthen ramparts and fragments of defensive structures. The Castle Hill is a popular destination, hosting festivals dedicated to medieval culture. The Mstislavsky complex of the Jesuit collegium is a historical value of state significance. Its construction started with the support of King Sigismund III and completed under the leadership of Benedict Mezmer lasted a long 18 years. A large part of the complex has reached our days. And there is also a kind of hostel here, where during the knight festival a whole tent city grows up. -
Carmelite church of the Assumption of the Mother of God in Mstislavl (visual inspection)
The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, also known as the Carmelite Church, is one of the most significant historical and architectural landmarks of Mstislav. This Catholic church, built in 1637, is located in a picturesque place at the foot of the Castle Hill and is a valuable monument of Belarusian architecture.
During an excursion around Belarus, travelers will be able to see a unique building made in the Vilnius Baroque style with elements of Rococo. The church was reconstructed in the 18th century by the famous architect Johann Glaubitz, who gave it an exquisite façade, expressive towers and harmonious proportions. Inside the temple, 20 fresco compositions from the 17th century have been preserved, including scenes dedicated to the tragic events of the capture of Mstislav in 1654. -
